The Healthy Tots Summer Newsletter (July 2024)

Welcome to the latest edition of the Healthy Tots newsletter.

We are certainly experiencing a summer of sport with Euro 2024 in full swing, Wimbledon starting this week and the Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner too! Here at Healthy Tots, we want to celebrate the benefits of being active and focus this newsletter on physical play and activity.

Parks and outdoor activities

Get physical outdoors!

Now is a perfect time to explore the great outdoors and the wonderful Country Parks which Leicestershire has to offer. Did you know that Leicestershire County Council maintain 17 County Parks with a further 11 Country Parks in our local area managed by other organisations. What Have We Been Up To Lately?

Healthy Tots Engagement Event

On a very wet Thursday evening back in May we hosted our Healthy Tots Engagement Event; it was great to see lots of familiar faces there including settings who have recently completed their award. A number of partner agencies and services also attended to provide presentations, information and resources. Therefore a special thank you goes to;

  •   Public Health's Oral Health Team
  •   Family Hubs
  •   Childcare Sufficiency Team
  •   Healthy Workplaces
  •   Active Together
  •   Active Eyes
  •   Sunrise Wellbeing

We were able to raise awareness of National Smile Month and had a free prize draw where we had balance bikes to give away and was kindly donated by Active Together.

Overall it was a fantastic night of Healthy Tots celebrations, highlights and opportunities to network, thanks to everyone who was able to attend.

A huge congratulations to our 2 latest settings who have completed their Healthy Tots award;

Blue Bubbles Pre School who achieved their Healthy Tots award in May and who were presented with their certificate at the Engagement Event and The Nurture Nest who completed their award only a couple of weeks ago!
